This nationwide company is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their corporate headquarters in Tigard. As the Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for processing semi-monthly payroll for all employees. At least 1-2 years’ experience with payroll processing is required. Additional responsibilities at a glance:  Audit employee time and labor data (timesheets) submitted by various offices and interact with supervisors as required to verify data and resolve discrepancies Analyze and respond to inquiries from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, and direct deposit Work with the HRIS system to ensure that the company is in compliance with federal, state, and local legal requirements, establishing state tax, unemployment tax and local city/territory accounts as necessary. Responsible for monitoring and completing tax filings as necessary.

Provide back up support to the Benefits Coordinator by answering basic enrollment and coverage questions

Requirements:  1-2 years’ payroll processing experience Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency Exceptionally strong analytical skills Proven ability to complete work accurately under tight deadlines

Location: Tigard (Close proximity to I-5 and Highway 217)

Salary: $45,000 – $48,000 with excellent benefits package (Health, Dental, Life Insurance, 401k, Disability, etc.)

Payroll Accounting Specialist Description: Portland State’s 49-acre downtown campus is located in the heart of one of America’s most vibrant centers of culture, business and technology. The Office of Human Resources is committed to providing quality service that enables faculty and staff to contribute at the highest level to support the mission of the University. We serve the PSU community in the areas of employee recruitment and retention, new employee onboarding, employee learning and development, payroll, compensation and benefits, and employee relations. The primary responsibilities of the Payroll Accounting Specialist are to: -Compute, process, perform data entry, download, and audit a wide variety of payroll, benefits, and leave transactions; -Calculate and process pay adjustments, termination payments, and over-payment corrections; -Perform audit of benefit and retirement deduction setup and withholdings and initiate corrections; -Coordinate and process legal writs/garnishments; initiate collection of payroll over-payments; -Conduct analysis and reconciliation of payroll accounts and process a variety of vendor remittances; -Work closely as part of a team to meet daily, weekly and monthly processing deadlines, provide backup and assistance to other team members to ensure timely and accurate pay and leave accounting for PSU employees in accordance with current laws, contracts, and policies. This is a detail oriented position which requires a high degree of accuracy. This position reports to the Payroll Manager, and is unrepresented, overtime subject, and provides full participation in our employee benefits, tuition, and leave accrual programs.
